Sod Cutting Ceremony

Education Minister John O’Dowd visited our school on Friday 22 January to mark the commencement of work following £1.18 million investment under the School Enhancement Programme.

Mr O’Dowd was joined by Mr Gavin Boyd from Education Authority (Southern Region) as well as Mr J Smyth (Chairperson to Board of Governors). Representatives from Education Authority and Woodvale Construction also attended the event.

During the visit the Minister met with staff and pupils of the school and carried out a sod cutting to mark the occasion.

Class 3 welcomed our guests and made a Card for the Minister. Shane McArdle in Class 3 helped the Minister at the sod cutting event.

This new provision for our school will allow for four new classrooms, an extended dining area and a new ICT room and School library.

New Year’s Resolutions

Pupils in senior school have been setting healthy lifestyle targets for this term.

This morning’s senior assembly was about the health benefits of cutting down on sugar in our diets. We tried out a new app which can be downloaded on either Android or Apple devices. All we had to do was scan a barcode. It told us some surprising facts about how much sugar is in the food we eat and drink every day.

Some pupils were asking about how they could get the app at home.
